Educational Assistant, Providence Willamette Falls Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Unit
Education: I have an AS degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Moorpark College.
Teaching Experience: I have worked as a Special Education Paraeducator since 1999 in various classroom settings with a variety of populations. I found my niche, in 2006, working for Ventura County Office of Education in their alternative educational behavioral program. Eventually becoming an Intensive Social/Emotional Service Associate (ISESA), assisting students outside of the classroom with de-escalation techniques, behavior coaching, Restorative Justice, coping skills, problem solving, and ultimately preparing them for a successful return to their district schools. In 2015, my family and I moved to Newberg, Oregon. I worked at Sitka Academy with Newberg School District as an Educational Assistant and Behavior Coach, then I joined Salem-Keizer School District as part of their Behavior Cadre. Now, working for MESD, I am eager and excited to have the opportunity to be part of such a unique program.
Hobbies: Photography; baking; hiking; films: documentaries, horror movies, biographies/based on true events, music: all things alternative, jazz, & classic rock.
Favorite books: The Long Walk by Richard Bachman (Stephen King); Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer; Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and I love non-fiction stories of survival and over coming adversity.
